Choreographing a Synchro Routine

A successful synchronized swimming routine does not depend only on the amount of time spent practicing or the skill of the athletes. Whether your team is competitive or only does performances, choosing appropriate music and having well-choreographed routines can be the difference betweeen an awesome routine and an average one. So, whether you want to score well while competing or just astound your family and friends, you should take time to think about your music and choreography to make sure it enhances your team's performance and highlights your very best attributes.

On this website, I have attempted to cover the basics of choosing music and choreographing. In parts, I have also touched upon more advanced choreography skills such as artistry and making personal connections with the judges. Many sections include example routines; thank you to all of the great teams who posted these on YouTube. Whether you are new to the sport or just want some fresh ideas, I hope that the information here is helpful. If you have comments or questions about anything here or the sport of synchronized swimming in general, please feel free to leave me a note and I will try to respond to you as soon as I can. Good luck with your choreography and the rest of your season!
